Linux Snmp Tools

SNMP is a protocol standard network management on application layer TCP/IP so that information required for network management can be sent using TCP/IP. Function monitor and manage its computer network systematically from a distance or in a control center only by means of collecting data and doing the assignment against the variables in the managed network elements.

SNMP Functions
  • Get, used by menajer to take an item from Agent MIB.
  • Set, used by managers to set or fill in the price of a variable in the MIB agents.
  • Trap, used by the agent to send a warning to managers.
  • Inform, used by the Manager to send a warning to the other manejer.
SNMP Devices

Managed Nodes
the node on the network that comes with the software so that it can be set using SNMP. The TCP/IP device in the form of ordinary and called managed devices.

Network Management Station (NMS)

is a special network device running certain software in order to set the managed nodes. On the network must have one or more of the NMS as they are the ones actually "running" SNMP. In the form of a network device can communicate using TCP/IP, all programmed with SNMP software.

The Elements Of The Elmen SNMP

Manager

implementers and network management. In fact this manager

is the computer on the network mengoperaksikan software for network management. The Manager consists of one or more processes that communicate with its agents and in the network. The managers will collect information from a network of agents who were asked by the administrator only instead of all the information which is owned agent.

MIB (Manager Information Base)
the structure of the database variables from a managed network elements. Struktrur this hierarchy and have a rule such that each variable information can be managed or specified with ease.

an abstract tree has a root. This root does not have a name, a data items individually formed their foliage. Object Identifier or ID, identify or give the names of objects in the MIB tree. This naming was done. The ID of the objects similar to a phone number that was organized in hirearki

Agent

software that is run on each network element managed. Each agency has a database of local variables that describe the State of the file and its activity and its influence on operation.

The structure of the information in the SNMP
stored form of variables defined in the MIB. There is a variable of the same text, integer or integer, time.

SNMP tool

SNMP Graph
Collect data and create graphs in real-time.

SNMP Sweep
SNMP discovery in a short time on each network segment.

Ip Network Browser
Conducting a comprehensive search of the data network.

SNMP Brute Force Attack
Attacking an SNMP query with the IP address to try and figure out the community string is read-only and read-write.

SNMP Dictionary Attack
Use the dictionary to the hackers to attack the network device.

Sonar Network
Perform a network search and save the result dalamdatabase.

Message to SNMP

GET_NEXT_REQUEST
Ask the next object components of a table or list view of an agent

GET_RESPONSE
Responding to get_next_request, set_request, or get_request

GET_REQUEST
Request a value from a component object of an agent

SET_REQUEST
Set the value of a component object to an agent

TRAP
Send a trap (event) by network management applications to asynchronous. The agent can send a trap when a condition occurs, such as a change of state of a device, a device failure, or the initialization agent.

SNMP entity
responsible for implementing all the diverse functions of SNMP. Dependent managed nodes or network management station.

Alternative replacement for SNMP

Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP)
Developed to cover the deficiencies of SNMP. Requires more system resources than the SNMP, relatively more difficult for programmed and designed only runs on the ISO protocols, and the protocols currently used is the TCP/IP protocol.

The flagship feature of CMIP is an agent can run a specific task based on the value of a variable or a specific condition. With SNMP, it must be run by the user because the SNMP agent does not analyze information that he obtained.

Ping
Verifies connections to other computers by sending a message of Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) Echo Request. Echo message receipt Reply will be shown, along with round-trip time. Ping is the primary TCP/IP command used to troubleshoot connectivity, coverage, and name resolution.

Telnet
Telnet Client and Telnet Server work together so that the user can communicate with the remote computer. Telnet Client allows users to contact a remote computer and interact with the computer through a terminal window. Telnet Server allows users of Telnet Client to log on to the computer that is running Telnet Server and run applications on that computer. Telnet Server serves as a gateway to use Telnet client to communicate. Suitable for testing the Telnet login to a remote host.

Netstat
Displays the active TCP connections, the port that the computer is listening, Ethernet statistics, the IP routing table, IPv4 statistics (Protocol IP, ICMP, TCP, and UDP), and IPv6 statistics (Protocol IPv6, ICMPv6, TCP over IPv6, and UDP over IPv6).

ARP
Display and modify the entries in the Arp cache (ARP), which contains one or more tables are used to store the IP address and physical address of the Ethernet and Token Ring from the IP address in question. Each network card Ethernet or Token Ring that is installed on your computer has a separate table.

Ipconfig (Winipcfg)
Display all TCP/IP network configuration and update the setting of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Domain Name System (DNS). Used without parameters, ipconfig displays the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway for all of the network card. Ipconfig is a commandline equivalent to winipcfg on Windows MilleniumEdition, Windows 98, and Windows 95. Although Windows XP does not include a graphical equivalent to them winipcfg, you can use Network Connections to view and renew an IP address.

TCPDUMP
The software used for viewing or mensniffing or sniff the data dijaringan is going on. learning means learning how to package tcpdump it goes how TCP/IP works following the command tcpdump with ansumsi you have to install linux.

Netstat (NETwork STATistics)
A command line based tool that is used to find out the status of your network or the configuration of a network and the activity that is happening in the network, as well as his statistics. Function to display routing table statistics interface, additional information interface, network sockets, all socket open antecedent, all yg socket listen, the conclusion of protocol statistics
