Shutdown Linux Command the Second Way




Now I will discuss on how to Shutdown and Restart with the Terminal, I will share tips and tricks to Shutdown and restart automatically on linux terminal, I tried it on a linux machine:
- Linux Mint 17.2
- Desktop Cinnamon

The command Shutdown and Restart With a Terminal like this can also be used on other Linux distros.

How to automatically Shutdown and Restart the GUI version already exists (instead of text) you can try the application for alternate use of the Terminal:

Qshutdown
Kshutdown
Gshutdown



How Do I Shutdown And Restart With The Terminal?
1. go to Terminala or Console
2. Type the command that you want to use. You can see his commands below.

Shutdown
A. Shutdown with the Terminal
sudo shutdown -h now

B. Automatic Shutdown in a certain time with Terminal
sudo shutdown -h + 5
does it mean we will shutdown wait 5 minutes

C. Automatic Shutdown with the clock set to the Terminal
sudo shutdown -h 10:00
This means that we will be shutdown on a time clock 10:00

Restart
A. Restart the Terminal
sudo shutdown -r now

B. Automatic Shutdown in a certain time with Terminal
sudo shutdown -r + 5
This means that we will Restart the waiting 5 minutes

C. Automatic Shutdown with the clock set to the Terminal
sudo shutdown -r 11:10
This means that we will Restart at the time 11:10 hours or at a time when 11 more 10 minutes

Note: to undo the automatic shutdown and restart you can try the 2 ways in which the State of the Terminal has not been in close and already close:
  • If the Terminal is still open, press the Ctrl and C simultaneously
  • If the Terminal is already in close then reopen the Terminal and type
sudo shutdown -c
